Hive is used in structured Data<\/td>\nPig Hadoop Component is used for semi structured data.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Hive Hadoop Component has a
\ndeclarative SQL language (HiveQL).<\/td>\n		Pig has a procedural data flow language (Pig Latin).<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Hive uses thrift based server that send queries
\nand corner directly to the Hive
\nserver which execute them.<\/td>\n		This feature is not available with Pig.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Hive directly leverages SQL expertise
\nand thus can be learnt easily.<\/td>\n		Pig is also SQL but varies to a great extent and it will take some time efforts to master Pig.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

Hive makes use of exact variation of the
\nSQL DLL language by defining the tables beforehand
\nand storing the schema details in any local database.<\/td>\n		In Pig there is no dedicated metadata database and the schemas or data types will be defined in script itself.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
The Hive has a provision for partitions so that can
\nprocess the subset of data by date
\nor in an alphabetical order.<\/td>\n		Pig Hadoop component does not have any notion for partitions though might be one can achieve this through filters.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
