Java - Installation Instructions

The Java Development Kit (JDK) :

  • JDK creates a runtime environment for executing your java programs and applets and also contains Java Runtime Environment (JRE), an interpreter, java debugger, java compiler, an archive and other development tools that are needed to check the correctness of your code and execute.

Program Execution in Java :

Install Java JDK using the below link :

Set Environment Variable Path : 

  1. After successful installation, go to the folder where the JDK -> bin is installed. Usually it is in C:\Program Files.
  2. Go to bin folder and copy the path. Assume it to be as “C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_66\bin”.
  3. Go to windows command prompt by clicking Windows Start button -> Type “cmd” in Run prompt. Start Command Prompt by right clicking and choosing “Run as Administrator” option.
  4. Set path for JDK libraries in command prompt as

            set path = C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.8.0_66\bin

     5. Now path for JDK is set in your computer. You can start a notepad and type java programs and execute them using windows command prompt.
