3. Kitabu<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

This one is obtainable on the App Store, and is in many ways\u00a0close to iBooks<\/strong>. At the very least, the UI is clean(er).<\/p>\n

Almost Kitabu hits really close to the iBooks mark<\/strong>\u00a0that you expect from eBook readers on Mac. It just misses out in a\u00a0minor UI choice, and a rather irritating bug. Make sure, said bug does not affect the overall usability of the app, but it\u2019s difficult to un-see once you have experienced it, because it\u2019s always there. Restarting the app doesn\u2019t fix it (IT support clich\u00e9).<\/p>\n

Let me develop the\u00a0minor UI issue<\/strong>\u00a0that have faced: When you reading a book, and you go into full-screen mode, We expect all the UI junk to disappear (the way iBooks handles full-screen UI); on Kitabu.<\/p>\n

4. Readium Chrome App<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The Readium Chrome App\u00a0puts most of these apps to shame<\/strong>. It has a UI that is\u00a0cleaner than both Calibre and Kindle<\/strong>, and it opens up almost instantly.<\/p>\n

You must have noticed that there are two \u201cHarry Potter and The Sorcerer\u2019s Stone\u201d books in there, which transports major complaint about this app. In case you accidentally add the same book twice to the library, or if you accidentally added a book that you won\u2019t need, you\u2019re out of luck. There is\u00a0no way to delete the books from the library.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In terms of\u00a0full-screen UI<\/strong>, Readium has the\u00a0same issue that Kitabu had<\/strong>. That top bar just doesn\u2019t go away, and Readium also\u00a0doesn\u2019t respond to the global keyboard shortcut<\/strong>\u00a0to make an app go full screen.<\/p>\n

Readium deserves credit<\/strong>, though. It\u2019s\u00a0only 329KB<\/strong>\u00a0in size and is much better as an eBook reader than almost every app on this list.<\/p>\n

5. Kindle App<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

The Kindle App is an app that have used on Android device and discarded for Moon+ Reader. At least the\u00a0Library UI is decent<\/strong>\u00a0on the Kindle app.\u00a0Dark backgrounds<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0well arranged<\/strong>\u00a0book covers look good.<\/p>\n

Opening an eBook not purchased directly through Amazon is a nightmare on the Kindle app. To convert the file to a \u201cKindle supported format\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0before the Kindle App would let me open it, and even then, the\u00a0scrolling is laggy<\/strong>\u00a0.<\/p>\n

Amazon lets you send documents to your Kindle devices and Kindle Apps directly by simply emailing the files to your Kindle account. Ok, it\u2019s not exactly \u201csimple\u201d, but you get gist.\u00a0The happiness is short-lived. But that email delivery only works on mobile devices, and is not available for Kindle on Mac. Awesome.<\/p>\n

Plus, the app itself is\u00a0155 MB<\/strong>\u00a0when installed, as compared to\u00a052 MB for iBooks<\/strong>, a whopping 206 MB for Calibre, and a minuscule\u00a03.4 MB for Kitabu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
