Essentially, you could now use your favorite apps like WhatsApp on your Chromebook. There\u2019s a catch though. The Play Store considers the Chromebook as an Android 6.0 tablet; thus, you can only install apps that are compatible with tablets and as we know, WhatsApp isn\u2019t available for tablets.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wikitechy.com\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/1.-WhatsApp-not-compatible-Play-Store-Chromebook.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"415\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wikitechy.com\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/1.-WhatsApp-not-compatible-Play-Store-Chromebook.png 640w, https:\/\/www.wikitechy.com\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/1.-WhatsApp-not-compatible-Play-Store-Chromebook-300x195.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n[ad type=&#8221;banner&#8221;]\n<h4 id=\"however-you-can-install-and-use-whatsapp-on-chromebook-through-an-alternate-method-heres-how-to-do-it\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><strong>However, you can install and use WhatsApp on Chromebook through an alternate method. Here\u2019s how to do it:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Firstly, you will have to install WhatsApp on your Chromebook. Since it\u2019s not available from the Play Store, you can download the app\u2019s APK from WhatsApp\u2019s official webpage. Once downloaded, check our post on how to install APK files on Chromebook to install WhatsApp.<\/li>\n<li>Once WhatsApp is installed on the Chromebook, open it and tap on <strong>\u201cAgree and Continue\u201d<\/strong> in its welcome page. After which, you should get a message saying <strong>\u201cNote:<\/strong> tablets are currently not supported\u201d. Click on \u201cContinue\u201d and grant the permissions.\u00a0Once done, enter your<strong>mobile number<\/strong>\u00a0along with your\u00a0<strong>country code<\/strong>\u00a0and move ahead.
