Microsoft has included a built-in display recorder in the new Xbox app for gaming clips but you can also use it to record other apps. Microsoft has given its gamers person-base quite a few built-in integrated windows 10 with the new Xbox app including features like Game Streaming, Game DVR and ability to sync Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Coming back to the display screen recording feature in Windows 10, there are a few limitations like the inability to record in high-resolution, which might be a deal breaker for some. However, if you want a hassle-free display recorder which simply receives the task built-in, this have to do it for you. Here\u2019s how to\u00a0use Windows 10\u2019s built-in Screen Recorder<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

  1. Enter the Start Menu<\/strong>and locate\u00a0Xbox app<\/strong>. If you are not able to find it, you can search for the app in Cortana\u2019s search box.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1. Once the Xbox app is open, just hit the key combo\u00a0\u201cWin + G<\/strong>\u201d on the screen you want to record or take a screenshot. The \u201cWin + G<\/strong>\u201d key\u00a0combo shouldopen the Game Bar<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    2. Game Bar will ask you if the screen you are in is a game, you will just have to lie here and click the tick box that says, \u201cYes, this is a game<\/strong> \u201c.<\/li>\n
    3. Then, you will see the Game Bar with options\u00a0togo to the\u00a0Xbox app<\/strong>, \u201cRecord that<\/strong> \u201c, \u201cScreenshot<\/strong> \u201c, \u201cStart Recording<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cSettings<\/strong> \u201c.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      1. The cool thing is if you enable \u201cBackground Recording<\/strong>\u201d in Game BarSettings<\/strong>, the \u201cRecord that<\/strong>\u201d feature will automatically bring you last 30 seconds of your game-play or screen time.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        You can hit \u201cScreenshot<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0to take a screenshot of the screen you are in. On pressing\u00a0\u201cStart Recording<\/strong>\u201d button, it starts recording your screen.\u00a0The \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d\u00a0button takes you to\u00a0Game DVR settings<\/strong>, where you can enable \u201cBackground Recording<\/strong> \u201c, ability to remember an app as a game and more.<\/p>\n

You can also configure various \u201cGame DVR<\/strong>\u201d features in the \u201cSettings<\/strong>\u201d tab buried in the hamburger menu on Xbox app. It allows youto\u00a0change the shortcuts<\/strong>to take\u00a0screenshots and video recordings from the default one to your choice of shortcuts.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          You can also\u00a0change the folder<\/strong>\u00a0where you want the screenshots and videos to be saved. Then, there\u2019s the ability to change \u201cVideo Quality<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cVideo Resolution<\/strong>\u201d of screen recordings. You can also\u00a0Turn On\u00a0audio recording<\/strong>\u00a0to have some commentary along with videos.<\/p>\n

          • Record that \u2013 Win + Alt + G<\/li>\n
          • Start\/Stop Recording \u2013 Win + Alt + R<\/li>\n
          • Take Screenshot \u2013 Win + Alt + Prt Sc<\/li>\n
          • Show\/hide recording timer \u2013 Win + Alt + T<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            1. You will need to have one of the following video cards to record your screen through Game DVR:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
                \n
              • AMD: AMD Radeon HD 7000 series, HD 7000M series, HD 8000 series, HD 8000M series, R9 series, and R7 series.<\/li>\n
              • NVIDIA: GeForce 600 series or later, GeForce 800M series or later, Quadro Kxxx series or later.<\/li>\n
              • Intel: Intel HD graphics 4000 or later, Intel Iris Graphics 5100 or later.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

                1. Windows 10\u2019s built-in screen recorder does not allow you to record the desktop, you need to be inside an app to record your screen.<\/li>\n
                2. You also need to have the Xbox app open for Game DVR to work. The videos are recorded in MP4 format, while images are saved in PNG format.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
