While we agree that Allo\u2019s Smart Reply feature and Google Assistant integration are some really in-built additions, regardless it has a long way to go before\u00a0it can even think of becoming a viable competition to\u00a0the Facebook owned WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Note<\/u><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>We are comparing Google Allo and WhatsApp from\u00a0an Android user view but most of the points should be valid for iPhone users as well.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"google-allo-whats-unique\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Google Allo: What\u2019s Unique?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Google Allo includes the usual features you would expect in a messaging app like the ability to share media &amp; location, custom notifications, read receipts, voice messages, GIF support, group chats etc. However, let\u2019s discuss about the features that\u00a0make Google Allo stand out against the highly popular WhatsApp.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Stickers<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Let\u2019s start with a quite essential feature like stickers, which is\u00a0something many people have been wanting for WhatsApp. Allo\u00a0packs in stickers along with a\u00a0<strong>sticker store<\/strong>, where you can download more. However, you have to agree that last seen is a good approach to know if a person is\u00a0active or not. Allo does not show you when someone is online and while it does include\u00a0<strong>read receipts<\/strong>, there is\u00a0<strong>no way to turn it off<\/strong>, unlike\u00a0WhatsApp. Another feature Allo needs is Status updates, which isn\u2019t really a major issue but comes in handy if you want your contacts to know what\u2019s going on with you off late. When you uninstall and reinstall the app on your device, you only get the names of the group chats\u00a0and none of your chats are restored.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"desktop-clients\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><strong>Desktop Clients<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Google Allo is now\u00a0<strong>limited to Android smartphones and the iPhone<\/strong>, which may irritate people who need to access their messages on a computer as well.
