Along with some\u00a0extremely features, Android 7.0 Nougat brought something that we have been waiting for long,\u00a0the multi-window or split-screen\u00a0multitasking.\u00a0The ability to run\u00a0two apps side by side makes up for an extraordinary multitasking background. While the feature has been all around executed, along with a cool\u00a0Alt+Tab<\/strong> like feature,\u00a0it does not give you a chance to use the same app in\u00a0two separate windows.<\/p>\n

For example, when you are talking to several people on WhatsApp and you need to talk with them simultaneously through the split screen mode. Gratefully, you can enable the ability to run same apps in split screen mode in Nougat and it does not require root access.<\/p>\n

How to Run Same Apps in Split Screen on Android Nougat<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Step 1:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n[ad type=”banner”]\n

First, install the app dubbed\u00a0Parallel Windows for Nougat<\/strong>\u00a0(free<\/a><\/strong><\/span>) from the Play Store. The app brings a sidebar, which lets you mirror apps, to make a single app run in multiple windows. It is currently only available for devices running Android 7.0 Nougat, which is pretty obvious.<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

When you first open the app, you will be presented with a warning suggesting the experimental nature of the app. Just tick the \u201cI have read and understood<\/strong>\u201d option and tap on \u201cContinue<\/strong>\u201c.<\/p>\n

Step 3:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Once done, you will have to\u00a0give the app permission to \u201cdraw over other apps<\/strong>\u201d and\u00a0enable it in \u201cAccessibility \u201c<\/strong>. Here, you can also decide the\u00a0size of the sidebar<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Then, you should see a\u00a0sidebar on the right\u00a0edge<\/strong>, which\u00a0feature options to open the\u00a0app drawer<\/strong>,\u00a0trigger\u00a0split screen mode<\/strong>\u00a0and the option to\u00a0mirror\u00a0apps<\/strong>\u00a0to run\u00a0a single app side by side in the split screen mode.<\/p>\n

Step 5:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

After that,\u00a0just\u00a0open an app or\u00a0tap on the Recents\/Multitasking button<\/strong>. Then, just\u00a0swipe from the\u00a0rightedge to bring up the\u00a0sidebar<\/strong>\u00a0and select the\u00a0third option<\/strong>, which will ask you to\u00a0\u201cSelect an app to mirror<\/strong>\u201c. Just select the app and\u00a0two windows of the app should open up in the split screen mode.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s it and\u00a0you will be able to use the same app in two separate windows\u00a0in Nougat.\u00a0We tested the app and it works fine with messaging apps like\u00a0WhatsApp & Allo\u00a0but do\u00a0remember that some apps just fail to mirror and some apps are still unsupported in the split screen mode. However, there is a way to\u00a0force apps to run in the split screen mode<\/strong>. To do it, go to\u00a0Settings->Developer Options<\/strong>, scroll down to the bottom and enable \u201cForce\u00a0activities\u00a0to be resizable<\/strong>\u201c.<\/p>\n
