Ever since Apple launched the MacBook lineup,\u00a0it appears that each\u00a0one has been discussing the Touch Bar. The helpfulness, or lack thereof. Personally, I think it\u2019s truly good, and it will become even better. One of the things Apple discussed in their keynote, was the fact that the\u00a0Touch Bar could also be as easily customized in very much the same way as one would customize the tool bar on\u00a0any Apple application on their Mac. So, if you have the brand new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, and you<\/strong>\u00a0need to customize the Touch Bar tools, here is how you can do it:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Customizing Touch Bar<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

It\u2019s really very simple to customize the Touch Bar. I would rather have Spotlight where Siri is, because I\u00a0don\u2019t ever use Siri, and the customization alternatives just provides a lot more flexibility to utilize the Touch Bar in the way you\u2019d need to. To customize the Touch Bar, you simply need to follow the below steps:<\/p>\n

Note<\/u><\/strong>:\u00a0<\/strong>I don\u2019t have a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, so I\u2019m using the trick to get the\u00a0Touch Bar on any Mac, and I\u2019ll show you how to customize\u00a0it. The process is exactly the same for the real Touch Bar though, so you won\u2019t find any differences there.<\/p>\n[ad type=”banner”]\n

  • Go to\u00a0System Preferences\u00a0<\/strong>on your Mac, and click on\u00a0Keyboard<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • Here,\u00a0click on the button that says \u201cCustomize\u00a0Control Strip<\/strong>\u201c.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • You will then\u00a0be shown a display with all of the Touch Bar buttons that you can use.\u00a0Simplydrag the ones you want to the bottom of your Mac\u2019s screen<\/strong>, and they will drop down onto your Touch Bar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • If you customize your Touch Bar, and later decide that you wanted the default one, that\u2019s easy too. Simply drag and drop the \u201cDefault Set<\/strong>\u201d onto your Touch Bar.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          When you are done, basically click on the \u201cDone<\/strong>\u201d button, and your Touch Bar will have updated to show the new buttons that you put in there. It\u2019s simple to customize the Touch Bar, and you can keep\u00a0tweaking it, until you discover the exact set of buttons that work for you.<\/p>\n

          Bonus: Take Screenshots of the Touch Bar<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

          While the Touch Bar is essentially a display, it\u2019s not on your screen. So, your general screenshot alternate ways wouldn\u2019t work. You can\u2019t, for instance, press command + space + 3, and have the Touch Bar appear in the screen shot. If you need to take screenshots of your Touch Bar, you can utilize the new alternate routes that Apple implemented particularly for that purpose.<\/p>\n

          • To take a screenshot of the\u00a0Touch Bar, and save it as an image file, simply press \u201ccommand + shift + 6<\/strong>\u201c.<\/li>\n
          • If you simply want to copy the screenshot to the clipboard, you can press \u201ccontrol + command + shift + 6<\/strong>\u201c, instead, and then paste the screenshot wherever you want to.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            Those are the\u00a0ways you can take screenshots of the Touch Bar on your Mac. Unluckily, there is no way to take screenshots of\u00a0specific regions on the Touch Bar, so if that\u2019s\u00a0what you needed to do, you\u2019ll need to simply edit the screenshot.<\/p>\n
