In addition, it brings features like GIF sharing, emoji search, glide typing and more. However, the keyboard is only available only for iPhone users, because we are used to Google bringing its cool new offerings on its own Android platform first.<\/p>\n[ad type=&#8221;banner&#8221;]\n<p>While Google plans offer GBoard to Android soon, there\u2019s a cool keyboard app called<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">\u00a0<a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.tapslash.android.latin&amp;hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Slash Keyboard<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>(Free) you can use on Android, which is like GBoard.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"what-makes-slash-a-great-gboard-alternative\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>What makes Slash a great GBoard alternative?<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4 id=\"third-party-service-integration\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Third Party Service integration<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>GBoard brings Google Search integration, which gives you search and send locations, videos from YouTube, images, news, weather reports, sports scores and much more. GBoard is cool but Slash keyboard\u00a0includes a variety of third party services integrated\u00a0into its keyboard. The third-party services accessible in Slash include\u00a0<strong>Amazon, Google Search, Maps, YouTube, Twitter, Contacts, NY Times, GIFs from Giphy, Foursquare, Spotify, Apple Music and more<\/strong>. This\u00a0brings a\u00a0message available at a tap from your keyboard, so you don\u2019t have to type it all over again and again. For example, you can create a custom slash dubbed <strong>\u201c\/wru\u201d<\/strong> with the shortcut as \u201cWhere are you?\u201d. If you can type an expression like \u201cAnger\u201d and you will be shown angry emojis.\u00a0Slash lacks this ability, so if you like this\u00a0feature, you will have to wait for GBoard to arrive on Android.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4 id=\"swipe-typing\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><strong>Swipe\u00a0typing<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now swipe typing is\u00a0the standard in most keyboard apps, so it\u2019s no surprise that GBoard packs in the functionality. But, Slash lacks this feature and that could be a deal breaker for some.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"set-up-and-use-slash-keyboard\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Set up and use Slash keyboard<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4 id=\"step-1\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Step 1:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>When you first open up Slash, the app will ask you to\u00a0<strong>enable the keyboard<\/strong>. To do it, go to\u00a0<strong>Settings-&gt; Language &amp; input<\/strong>\u00a0and tap on\u00a0<strong>\u201cCurrent keyboard\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0hit the\u00a0<strong>\u201cChoose Keyboards\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0button. Here, go ahead and enable \u201cAndroid Keyboard (AOSP)\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21612\" src=\"https:\/\/www.wikitechy.com\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/3-282.png\" alt=\"Slash Keyboard: A Great GBoard Alternative for Android\" width=\"640\" height=\"566\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.wikitechy.com\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/3-282.png 640w, https:\/\/www.wikitechy.com\/technology\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/3-282-300x265.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Note<\/u><\/strong>: While Slash says, you will find the keyboard in the list with the name \u201c%s\u201d, we found it as Android Keyboard (AOSP).<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"step-2\"><span style=\"color: #99cc00;\"><strong>Step 2:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>After you have enabled Slash, the app will ask you to switch from your current keyboard to Slash. You can do that by hitting \u2018the link\u2019 app shows you or by going to\u00a0<strong>Settings-&gt;Language and input-&gt;Current keyboard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"step-3\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\"><strong>Step 3:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>After you are done,\u00a0the app will open up and you will see all the slashes for different services along with your own custom slashes. To create a custom slash, you can tap the \u201cCreate a slash\u201d button at the bottom. The keyboard\u00a0<strong>looks similar to Google keyboard but adds a shortcut bar at the top for emojis,\u00a0GIFs, search and\u00a0the third-party services<\/strong>\u00a0you choose to have.
