There are lots of great\u00a0launchers available for Android, Nova launcher is the best.\u00a0The launcher app brings lots of customization choices\u00a0but if there\u2019s one thing it wants, it\u2019s\u00a0a theme store.\u00a0Some people will say that there\u2019s no need\u00a0of a theme store in Nova launcher because you can easily create Nova Launcher themes.<\/p>\n[ad type=”banner”]\n

Steps to create a Nova launcher theme:<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

To install the Nova launcher from the\u00a0Google Play Store<\/a><\/span><\/strong>. You can try the free version\u00a0to get started but most of the cool options\u00a0are available in Nova Launcher Prime ($4.99<\/a><\/span><\/strong>). \u00a0Additionally, ensure to make\u00a0Nova your default launcher. To do it, go to Settings->Home or Settings->Apps<\/strong> and press the settings part and then check \u201cDefault Apps\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

1. Set a beautiful Wallpaper of your choice<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Your home screen wallpaper is the base of your Nova launcher theme, as\u00a0you will have to select the other elements based on your wallpaper. It\u2019s important to choose a wallpaper that looks beautiful and can stand the test of time.\u00a0For our theme,\u00a0we used a flat-looking simple wallpaper called\u00a0\u201cMatexial 28\u201d from the\u00a0<\/strong>Wallrox wallpaper app<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"How<\/p>\n

You can select highly detailed and customizable wallpapers from the likes of\u00a0KLWP<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0Muzei<\/a><\/strong>,<\/span> although these apps can get highly complicated at times. You can also select between the various wallpapers in apps like\u00a0Zedge<\/strong>,\u00a0Backgrounds HD<\/a><\/p>\n

2. Install an Icon Pack that Compliments the Wallpaper<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

There is\u00a0amazing icon packs available for Android but we will have to select an icon pack with the wallpaper. It\u2019s important that the icons don\u2019t look out of place against the wallpaper.\u00a0We chose the\u00a0Voxel icon pack<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span>for our theme<\/strong>, considering\u00a0it brings a flat design and our wallpaper is on the same lines. In addition, we like the unified square icons that Voxel brings. To change icons in Nova, go to\u00a0Nova Settings->Look & feel->Icon theme<\/strong>\u00a0and select the icon pack you want.<\/p>\n

\"How<\/p>\n[ad type=”banner”]\n

You can choose your\u00a0very own icons and we\u2019d advise you the likes of\u00a0Merus<\/a>,\u00a0Aurora<\/a>,\u00a0Elun<\/a>,\u00a0Nimbbi<\/a>,\u00a0Polycon<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/strong>etc.<\/p>\n

3. Add good-looking and functional widgets<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Widgets not just bring functionality and information to your home screen but they also bring a touch of beauty. So, you\u00a0can add some excellent widgets to enhance you Nova launcher theme. In fact,\u00a0in our theme, we used quite a few widgets<\/strong>. We used the\u00a0very popular\u00a0Zooper Widget Pro<\/strong><\/a><\/span>\u00a0app to add one of its standard template widgets called \u201cDaveDate<\/strong>\u201c.<\/p>\n

\"How<\/p>\n

We also\u00a0created\u00a0a custom widget of our own through Zooper<\/strong>\u00a0to display system info like battery and storage. We used a\u00a0scalable icon set<\/strong>\u00a0to show the battery icon,\u00a0rich text<\/strong>\u00a0for the battery details and\u00a0simple text<\/strong>\u00a0to show storage details.\u00a0Zooper offers a ton of options, similar to KLWP, so you can customize\u00a0a widget.<\/p>\n

\"How<\/p>\n

Along with the couple of Zooper widgets, we added\u00a0a music player widget with\u00a0<\/strong>Shuttle<\/strong><\/a>, which brings a couple of widget layouts along with options\u00a0to edit transparency, colors, background and text. With the music player widget, we also used one of the\u00a01Weather weather widgets<\/a><\/span>.<\/strong> In the 1Weather widget, we\u00a0chose the Background to be transparent, Icon Set & Accent\u00a0to be Black and the Clock ace \u201cCustom\u201d. Finally, we also added a\u00a0Google<\/span> Keep<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0widget<\/strong>\u00a0to our theme.<\/p>\n

\"How<\/p>\n

Note<\/u><\/strong>: We used\u00a0Black text on all our widgets to give the\u00a0widgets a good contrast against the light wallpaper and colorful icons from Voxel.<\/p>\n

4. Fiddle with Nova Launcher options<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Nova launcher theme already be looking beautiful but you want to add some finishing touches with some Nova launcher settings.<\/p>\n

Desktop<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Nova launcher\u00a0lets you customize the desktop also known as home screen of Android to the hilt<\/strong>. In Nova Settings->Desktop, you can change the icon grid, icon layout, width & height padding, search bar styles, page indicators & color, wallpaper scrolling and more. You can also check out the various scroll effects (card stack, tablet, glass, wipe etc.) that make an enormous difference in the user experience. There are also options to overlap widgets, lock desktop and much more.<\/p>\n

\"How<\/p>\n[ad type=”banner”]\n

For our theme, we played with only a few options. We set the\u00a0desktop grid size to \u201c5\u00d75\u201d, icon size to \u201c110%\u201d and font to \u201cmedium\u201d in Icon layout,\u00a0width\u00a0& height padding to \u201cNone\u201d, turned off wallpaper scrolling and chose the \u201cWipe\u201d scroll effect.<\/p>\n
