How To Install Mac OS X Cisco VPN Set Up<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Starting with Mac OS<\/a> X 10.6 it is now possible to connect to a Cisco<\/a> IPSec VPN<\/strong><\/span> without having to download any extra software.<\/p>\n

Main Set Up Steps:<\/span><\/h2>\n

Before you begin please have your VPN\u2019s IP address<\/strong>, your username, password, shared secret, certificate, and\/or group name ready.<\/p>\n

Open System Preferences<\/strong> and click on the Network icon<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

On the Network screen<\/strong>, click on the + symbol<\/strong> in the lower left :<\/p>\n

On the following screen click on Interface drop-down<\/strong> menu and choose VPN<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Click on the VPN Type<\/strong> menu and choose\u00a0Cisco IPSec<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Give your new VPN connection<\/strong> a label in the Service Name text field(1) (Any name you choose) and click Create<\/strong> (2):<\/p>\n

Back on the main Network<\/a> screen, click on your new VPN name<\/strong> in the list on the left side. Enter your VPN server\u2019s IP address<\/strong>, your user name (Account Name), and password:<\/p>\n

If you allow the checkbox marked Show VPN<\/strong> standing within the menu bar checked a replacement menu bar icon can seems that permits you quickly flip the VPN association on and off.<\/p>\n

Click on the Authentication<\/strong> Settings button and enter the VPN\u2019s Shared Secret<\/strong>, Certificate, and\/or cluster<\/strong> Name<\/strong>. Click OK once done:<\/p>\n
